Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm ’90-’91

Whell convoy to port and deployment Desert Shield

These patriots, members of the 1st Cavalry Division and the Tiger Brigade of the 2nd Armored Division, answered the challenge to safeguard liberty and democracy. With selfless devotion, they have bought justice and freedom with their own blood, the price paid as the vanguard of our Nation’s principles.

They answered the call to defend freedom 10,000 miles from home in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait. With all its uncertainty, sacrifice, and danger, it was a life with purpose and mission, hope and accomplishment. It was a life of comrades moving forward together, individuals bound into teams and tempered in the heat of war, as so many before them.

And as before, we remember those among us who did not return, who made the very highest sacrifice. These fine Troopers, our comrades, will live in our memory and in the legacy of the Cavalry. They will never be forgotten!
